Day six started at Ashhurst Domain where we refilled our tanks and dumped before going into Palmerston North to stroll around the Plaza and get some groceries. We had arranged to meet at Bulls by 12 o'clock. We then went down to the domain and had a lunch. The locals arrived and started playing tennis and touch rugby. The domain is a great place with toilets, water and plenty of space. The boys end of the toilets is labelled 'Bulls' and the girls, 'Cows'. The building has signs like 'netbull', 'footbull', and 'softbull'.
We decided to go to Koitiata Beach to see if we could put out the kontiki and get fish for tea. At the beach there was a lot of drift and the sea was dirty so we decided it was not safe for the kontiki to be put out. This is a good iron sand beach and is hot on the feet. We left the beach to see what the Turakina Domain was like then decided to stay for the night. There are toilets and water here. Most decided to do some washing as it was very warm and windy.
Tea for some was a bbq.
