Day 13 - On Lake Taupo to Taumarunui

Day thirteen started with all members climbing aboard a charter boat to go fishing for trout on Lake Taupo. To fish in the Taupo district requires a special licence, so three of us purchased a day licence. We left the wharf at the Yacht Club and chugged out before setting the lines to fish. The first strike was a nice rainbow trout that gave a few good jumps before it was landed. I caught that one. Barry hooked a good brown trout that he landed. It was about five pounds. That was the end of the fishing. The trout were cleaned and methods of cooking them for tea was planned.

We had lunch after fishing and then drove to Taumarunui. This is a drive of about sixty kilometres through farming and bush country. We parked up at the school by the swimming pool and enjoyed the sunshine for the remainder of the afternnon.

For tea the two trout were cooked. The small one was dressed with lemon and seasoning, wrapped in tin foil and cooked beautifully on a BBQ. The larger trout was split open, covered with brown sugar and lemon pepper and smoked, and smoked, and smoked. This too was beautiful to eat. Yum.

After tea we sent a message to our families. PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
