Day twenty-five saw the group divide up. Mort & Gwenda, Barry and Kay, and Don and Val went into Auckland to visit family and friends. Ian, Sally, Bob, Lynn, Gloria and Weldon drove through Auckland (phew) and went looking for a beach to fish at. As we drove the weather began to change from fine to wind and rain. We tried several parking areas but they were unsuitable. We drove on to the end of the world (I think) and parked at the Tapora Golf Club in the middle bit of the Kaipara harbour. This required driving on gravel and the hills of Northland.
The weather became very wet but we didn't get the wind other places got though the night. The golf club was a nice place to stay.
Parked at Tapora Golf Club
Ake ake type plant.
