We then drove to the Huka Falls. These falls are a marvellous site to see. The volume of water was great to see and to photograph. From there we went to the The Bee Hive with the live bees to view and the multiple bee products to purchase. We all enjoyed viewing the video about bees and the coffee with honey extra was great.
After the Bee Hive we drove to Craters of the Moon area. This is a thermal area with steam, boiling mud and vents belching steam. We walked the boardwalk tracks and enjoyed the region. This took about an hour and we had lunch on site.
We then went into town, did some grocery shopping, then went to the lake shore to view the activities. We spent some time watching the golf driving. People paid to hit golf balls at a raft with three holes out in the lake. If you scored a hole in one on the red hole it was worth $10,000.00. The other holes were free activities around Taupo.
The guys went to watch the Segway ride. This is a two wheel machine that you ride. If you lean forward it goes forward, lean back reverses it, and you turn corners by moving the handle to the way you want to go. Before long we paid the money and enjoyed ourselves. See the photos.
We then left Taupo and drove back to Tokaanu Yacht Club for the night. After a happy hour we walked to the local takeaway shop for a fish'a'chip tea.
