Day 4 - Paremata to Otaki & Levin

Day four saw us pack up our vans and leave Paremata after a very windy night. We quietly drove to Otaki and parked in the shopping centre. The town is full of rag shops. These are outlet stores for the big rag manufacturers. The girls spent a lot of time visiting the different shops while the guys hunted for a blokes shop. We found a hunting and fishing store where we killed time.

When everyone returned to their vans we went to Otaki Beach for lunch and a quiet time watching the waves pound in. A very relaxing time.

The vans lined up at Otaki Beach

Val and Tony watching the surf and surfers
Bob thinking about his latest Wally Award

                                          Lynn watching the surfers

Group watching Don paddle in the water

Aussie Barry telling Bob where Aussie is!!!

                                                                Otaki Beach surf

After lunch we drove into Levin where we dumped and filled with water. This takes a long time with five vans. We then headed for the licorice factory where the ten of us acted like school kids in a candy store. This is a great plave to purchase cheap sweets. $3 or $4 for a big bag of pieces and off-cuts. The licorice will probably help fill the tanks!!!

We drove to a local POP stop but it only held one van. We suggested we could stack the vans. Gloria and I left the others and went to see my brother Rex and my sisiter Rita. We spent the night with them while the others went back towards Otaki to a lifestyle block where they parked for the night. Judging from the texts I received, Happy Hour extended to many.!!

Wally of the Day Award will have to go to Bob who lead us in a large circle getting us to the beach. Well done Bob. (We are still looking for an appropriate award.
