Day forty-one was a busy day. When everyone was ready they made their own way to Coromandel Town. The road is very windy and you don't have a need for top gear. We all parked and wandered around the town for a while. Then eight of us drove to the Driving Creek Railway and went into the hills on a narrow gauge railway. It carried about thirty passengers. The train made it's way up hill by spirals and zig-zags. At the top was a viewing platform that gave a great view over Coromandel, Hauraki Gulf and the islands. A great trip and well worth the experience.
After lunch we drove the the Waterworks display. This is up a narrow valley and the displays using water are made from recycled materials. We had a lot of fun. We intended staying there for the night but the parking area was too small so we left and drove towards Whitianga, stopping at Simpson's Beach. What a beautiful place with unrestricted sea views. Magic. Has to be a two day stop and some fishing.
